What Atmospheric is for, and what it is not for
Atmospheric is a place for private conversation between people who choose to talk to each other. These rules exist so that it stays that way.
Talk to people who want to talk to you. The app gives everyone tools to decide who may call them, add them to groups or find them by number. Working around someone's choice — new accounts, new numbers — is harassment regardless of what is said.
Do not use someone else's account. Your account is tied to your phone number; lending it out means lending out everything in it.
Your messages are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read them, and we do not scan them — not for these rules, not for anything.
That means enforcement happens in one way only: someone reports something and shows us what they saw. We act on reports, not on surveillance. It is a deliberate trade — a service that could enforce rules by reading everything would not be worth using.
If you break these rules and nobody reports it, we will not know. If someone reports it with evidence, we will act.
Depending on severity: a warning, restriction of the account, or its removal. For content involving minors or credible threats of violence, removal is immediate and we contact the authorities.
